The band derives its inspiration from people's intense struggles and violence experienced at the US-Mexico border.

The Chamanas have penned a new politically charged single titled: "If You Build It, We Will Break It" referencing Donald Trump's proposed border wall along the United States' southern frontier with Mexico.

The indie-pop fusion band, whose members hail from the Mexican border city of Juarez and the U.S. border city of El Paso, have branded the wall as uninspiring with the lyrics: "If you build it, we will break it/ bricks, and mortar won't separate us."

The band, which is named after shamans, is comprised of four members, with Manuel Calderon (Bass), Hector Carreon (Guitars), Paulina Reza (Vocal), and Alejandro Bustillos (Drums).

The band whose name is a play on the title of the individuals, who are known for their spiritual, healing qualities and ancient medicinal knowledge, draws their inspiration from the intense struggles and violence faced by people leaving along the US-Mexico border.

The band notes on its website, "Representing border towns El Paso and Ciudad Juárez, The Chamanas' original and unique sound has captivated a significant audience that appreciates a fusion of traditional folk music with electronic and contemporary beats. In their debut album, Once Once, the band plays with different instruments and melodies ranging from harps to huapanguera guitars and '70s-inspired ballads that turn into an upbeat huapango-like tracks like 'Purple Yellow Red and Blue.'"

"If You Build It We Will Break It" is a single from the band's upcoming album NEA, due July 20.
