Nicaragua Expresses Its Condolences For Namibia’s President Death

The Nicaraguan government expressed its “Deepest Condolences” for the death of Samuel Daniel Shafiishuna Nujoma, independence fighter of Namibia and first president of the country after its independence in 1990 from South Africa from the segregationist regime.

“We extend our solidarity to his family, loved ones, the comrades of the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO), and all the Dear People of Namibia,” said the statement on behalf of the entire Nicaraguan people and government.
In this regard, the government of the Central American country, led by the co.presidents Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, made clear that they raise their prayers for them to find comfort in the “memory and legacy of the eternal comrade and brother in struggle.”
Nicaraguan leaders said Samuel Nujoma is and will remember for his leadership and victories in the cause of peace, freedom, independence and development of the heroic people of Namibia.
“From our always blessed and free Nicaragua, receive our fraternal embrace and the affection of all Nicaraguan families,” finalizes the Nicaraguan statement.
In addition, Venezuela’s government also expressed its condolences for the Namibian leader’s death. The Bolivarian president Nicolas Maduro stated that “his legacy will endure eternally in history,” underscoring the principles of freedom, equality, and justice that Nujoma promoted during his tenure. Additionally, it recalled his life dedicated to serving the Namibian people and his role as the “founding father” of the nation.
Samuel Nujoma, a prominent leader in the struggle for independence in Namibia and the country’s first president after its liberation from apartheid in 1990, died at age 95.
His death was reported by the current president, Nangolo Mbumba, who said that Nujoma had been hospitalized for the past few weeks due to health problems.
Nujoma, known as the founding father of Namibia, served as president for three terms, totalling fifteen years in office, and played a crucial role in the struggle for freedom of the Namibian people. His legacy lives on in the history of the country.
