“On behalf of the People and Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua, and in our own name, we wish to express our most fraternal and warmest congratulations to you, the people, and the brotherly government of the State of Qatar, on the special occasion of commemorating, next September 3rd, the Anniversary of Independence,” he said.

“From our Nicaragua, always blessed and always free, we wish to reiterate our unwavering will to continue strengthening our fraternal bonds of mutual respect, solidarity, and cooperation. May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be with you and your brotherly people of Qatar,” he added.

Located in West Asia, Qatar shares its only land border to the south with Saudi Arabia, while the rest of its territory is bordered by the waters of the Persian Gulf. This oil-rich country is a monarchy that has been ruled by the Al Thani family since the mid-19th century.

It was a British protectorate until it gained independence in 1971. In 1995, Sheikh Hamad Al Thani became emir after replacing his father, Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani. Since 2013, the Qatari emir has been his son Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who took over after his father’s abdication.

Qatar possesses the third-largest natural gas reserves in the world, which made the small emirate the country with the highest per capita income in 2012 and led it to achieve the second-highest Human Development Index (HDI) in the Arab world, behind the United Arab Emirates.

In 2023, Qatar also ranked 21st globally as the most peaceful country. Currently, it is undergoing a major planned transformation aimed at achieving an advanced, sustainable, and diversified economy by 2023.
