The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has issued a dire warning about the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing it as the most severe since the outbreak of violence in October 2023.

In its latest report, OCHA highlighted that Israel has deliberately blocked access to essential resources needed for the survival of the Palestinian population. For over 50 days, humanitarian aid has been completely restricted, while relentless airstrikes continue to target civilians and humanitarian workers.

“The insecurity and access restrictions have forced humanitarian partners to shut down nutrition centers and disrupt key services, precisely as Gaza’s nutritional situation worsens,” the agency stated.

The report further revealed that Israel’s total blockade, imposed since March 2, has prevented the entry of food, medicine, and potable water, exacerbating the suffering of Gaza’s residents. Attacks on refugee camps and homes in Rafah and Gaza City have displaced approximately 420,000 people since April 15.

Jonathan Whittall, OCHA’s head for Palestine, condemned the situation as “intentional deprivation” and a “deliberate dismantling of Palestinian life.”

According to UN data, since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed at least 418 humanitarian workers, including 295 UN staff members.

As the crisis deepens, calls for accountability and immediate action to alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s population grow louder.
