Olympics: Cuban Yarisleidis Cirilo Wins Bronze in C1-200 Meter Canoe Competition

So far, Cuba has achieved two gold medals, one silver medal, and four bronze medals.
On Saturday, Cuban Yarisleidis Cirilo won the bronze medal after finishing in third place in the C1-200 meter canoe final with a time of 44.36 seconds.

“I felt very good, especially because in the last Olympic Games I had a lot of problems at the start because I was going out too far behind. This time it was different,” she said.
“I am more than satisfied with the race I did. Here I achieved my personal best and that shows that I gave it my all,” said Cirilo, the Cuban canoeist from Guantanamo.
“Slender and with an unmatched brown skin color, this young woman never imagined that canoeing would be the love of her life, having been born in a small town devoid of rivers. Today, at just 22 years old, the Guantanamera native confirmed herself in the world elite,” journalist Oscar Figueredo said.
“Moments before the competition, she was seen getting out and securing the boat, looking at the distance she would cover in just a few minutes… In lane five, the bow rose and a powerful stroke led her to come in third with 44:36 seconds,” he narrated.
Cuba thus achieved its seventh Olympic medal in the Paris games with the effort made by Cirilo in the nautical stadium of Vaires-sur-Marne. So far, this Caribbean nation has achieved two gold medals, one silver, and four bronze medals.
In this C1-200 meter final, Canadian Katie Vincent won the gold medal by setting an Olympic record of 44.12 seconds. American Nevin Harrison, who won the gold medal in Tokyo 2020, arrived at the finish line in second place, thus winning the silver medal.
