In a peaceful and incident-free environment, more than 55% of Ecuadorians exercised their right to vote in the first eight hours of the general elections held this Sunday, according to the latest report from the National Electoral Council (CNE).
Diana Atamaint, president of the CNE, urged citizens to continue going to the polls, emphasizing the importance of electoral participation.
So far, more than 13.7 million voters are called to cast their ballots to elect national authorities for the 2025-2029 term.
Among the positions to be elected are the Presidency and Vice Presidency of the Republic, as well as the 151 members of the National Assembly and five representatives to the Andean Parliament.
The electoral process has proceeded smoothly, and the CNE remains vigilant for any eventualities as the closing of polling stations approaches.
The active participation of citizens is crucial in this democratic process, which will define the country’s political future.
