Over 9,800 Palestinians Arrested in the Occupied West Bank Since October 7

Israel has arrested in the last 24 hours in the occupied West Bank almost 22 people, including a journalist, a child and former detainees.

The Commission for Detainees and Former Detainees and the Palestine Prisoners’ Society reported that the arrests were made in the governorates of Hebron, Ramallah, Tulkarem, Jerusalem, The Commission’s proposals are to be adopted by the Council.

In a joint statement, both organizations stressed that the arrests were accompanied by raids, abuses, attacks and threats against detainees and their families, as well as vandalism and destruction of homes.

The text states that since 7 October, the total number of Palestinians detained in the occupied West Bank has increased to more than 9,800.

Arrests have been made at homes, military checkpoints and in addition to the hostages.

Human Rights Watch (HRW), an organisation dedicated to the research, defence and promotion of human rights, denounced on Tuesday that Israel is committing war crimes against Palestinian prisoners.

HRW stressed that the Zionist entity also commits acts of violence against children, including sexual violence.

The complaint is based on images taken and published by the Israeli soldiers themselves.

The acting director for the Middle East of HRW, Balkees Jarrah, stated that “for months, the Israeli authorities have turned a blind eye when members of their army publish dehumanizing images and videos of Palestinians in their custody”.
