Both parties have agreed to establish a committee that will govern Gaza once the war concludes. On Tuesday, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, and the Fatah party finalized details in Cairo regarding the Community Support Committee in the Gaza Strip, which will oversee the region after the conflict ends.

According to a pact between the two Palestinian movements obtained by Al Mayadeen, the committee will manage the interests of Palestinian citizens across all sectors within Gaza, with its reference being the Palestinian government.
The selection of its members, approximately 10 to 15 individuals, will consider independent and qualified Palestinian national figures outside both movements. Its structure will follow the political system of the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza, ensuring that its formation does not lead to the separation of the region from other territories in Palestine.
The committee will possess the necessary powers to carry out its functions and will commence operations following a meeting of all Palestinian organizations in Cairo to reach a final agreement on its establishment.
The process for general elections or a national consensus for an alternative governance formula, as decided by the President of the State of Palestine, are among the reasons stipulated in the agreement for when the committee would cease its operations. Previously, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also appointed Rawhi Fattouh, head of the National Council in Palestine, as his successor should the presidency of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) become vacant.
If general elections were to take place resulting in a government replacing the committee after the war ends, these would mark the first legislative elections held in Palestine since 2006.
