Palestinian President Condemns Israeli Military Corridor Plan

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has strongly condemned Israel’s announcement of a new military corridor along the border with Egypt, which aims to separate the cities of Rafah and Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the corridor, referred to as “Filadelfia II,” is intended to “divide the Strip and increase pressure on Hamas.”

The plan involves deploying Merkava tanks and Hermes 900 drones in areas heavily damaged by ongoing Israeli airstrikes. President Abbas denounced the initiative as part of Israel’s expansionist agenda in the occupied coastal enclave, emphasizing that it violates international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

“This military barrier is a blatant violation of international law,” Abbas declared. “We urge the UN Security Council to intervene urgently.”

According to local reports, the proposed corridor would divide Gaza into three disconnected sectors and tighten control over maritime access. Analysts warn that this move would further exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where residents already endure a crippling blockade that restricts access to food and medical aid.

The international community has yet to respond decisively to the escalating situation, as calls for intervention grow louder amid fears of worsening conditions for the Gazan population.
