An analysis by J.P. Morgan Insurance estimates that insured losses could exceed $20 billion, a figure that could increase if the fire is not controlled soon.

For its part, AccuWeather projects that total damage could reach between $52 billion and $57 billion, which would triple the losses caused by the devastating Camp Fire in 2018.

Experts like Daniel Swain, a climate scientist at UCLA, warn that this fire could mark a turning point in the state’s history, exacerbating the housing insurance crisis in forest-fire-prone areas.

The situation is critical; even actors like James Woods have denounced the cancellation of policies by insurance companies in their neighborhood, highlighting a problem that is aggravated with each new disaster.
