Panama & DR agree to promote tourism

Among the strategies advanced, Mulino and Abinader agreed to promote international conventions, to which the Dominican dignitary indicated his willingness to provide advice to Panama.
On Monday, Panama’s president-elect, José Raúl Mulino, and his Dominican counterpart, Luis Abinader, agreed to promote tourism between the two nations.

In the first of his bilateral meetings at the capital’s Sheraton Hotel with the visiting heads of state and government who will attend the inauguration ceremony, Mulino emphasized that the parties also agreed to strengthen ties of friendship.
“We have the spirit of being able to bring relations with the Dominican Republic closer, from merengue to politics”, he remarked.
He also underlined the interest in getting all the support of Santo Domingo with the objective of emulating in the development of the leisure industry.
“Panama has everything to develop tourism but we had 10 years of stagnation, and we need to create jobs, increase hotel capacity,” he added.

During the day Mulino will also meet with the King of Spain, Felipe VI, the Colombian President, Gustavo Petro, and the US Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, who are attending the presidential transfer of power at the Atlapa Convention Center along with other presidents, foreign ministers and representatives of more than twenty nations.
