“The party isn’t over,” said Tony Estanguet, the president of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (COJOP).

In the late afternoon, some stars will join the torchbearers before the official inauguration of the Paralympic Games, which will take place at the Concorde Plaza at 8:00 PM.

Earlier, at 6:00 PM, the Paralympic flame is scheduled to arrive at Paris City Hall, where Cyrena Samba-Mayela, the only French medalist in athletics at the Paris Olympic Games, and Ryadh Sallem, a member of the wheelchair rugby team, will light the cauldron.

Since the 1988 Summer Olympic Games in Seoul, the Paralympic Games have been held in the same city as the Olympic Games.

This decision was made through an agreement signed in 2001 between the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). In this way, the organizers of the Paralympic Games ensure that the same facilities and sports venues used by Olympic athletes will be utilized.

Since the 2008 Beijing Games, the Paralympic Games have always been held nearly two weeks after the Olympic closing ceremony.
