Peru: Dictator Alberto Fujimori Dies at 86

Peruvian dictator Alberto Fujimori died on Wednesday at the age of 86 from cancer, his daughter Keiko Fujimori confirmed in X.

«After a long battle against cancer, our father, Alberto Fujimori, has just left to meet the Lord. We ask those who appreciated it, accompany us with a prayer for the eternal rest of your soul. Thank you, dad! Keiko, Hiro, Sachie and Kenji Fujimori (sons of the former president)», wrote Keiko Fujimori in her social network account.
Previously, the local media indicated that the dictator was in a state of gravity.
The Peruvian dictator was released after he received a presidential pardon in 2017 that allowed his release during the government of Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, after being sentenced in 2009 to 25 years of imprisonment for crimes against humanity, corruption and responsible for the Pativilca case, a multiple murder committed by the Colina Group.
However, he returned to prison for alleged irregularities in the trial; but at the end of 2023, the Constitutional Court released him.
According to Transparency International, Fujimori has been considered one of the most corrupt leaders in the world.
