At almost the same time, parliamentarians of different tendencies were calling for the replacement of ministers such as Morgan Quero, the education minister, and Juan José Santiváñez, the interior minister.

On Wednesday, questioning of a third of President Dina Boluarte’s ministerial cabinet before the president’s national anniversary message persists after the government’s decision to dismiss them.

Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzén dismissed calls for changes to the ministers of Education, Women and Vulnerable Populations, Interior, Housing, Health and Social Development and Inclusion due to errors or inadequacies in their performance.

“We have not foreseen any changes in the Council of Ministers. All the ministers, including this one, are under permanent evaluation”, and he ruled out the possibility of replacements before the anniversary of Peruvian independence on 28 July.

At almost the same time, parliamentarians of different tendencies were calling for the replacement of ministers such as Morgan Quero, the education minister, and Juan José Santiváñez, the interior minister.

Quero has been questioned for unfortunate statements, especially that the mass rape of Amazonian children by teachers at a jungle boarding school is partly an ancestral cultural practice.

The head of the Interior Ministry is frequently criticized for the lack of results in his administration, which began a few months ago in a context of a serious crisis of citizen insecurity due to an outbreak of crime, and this week for the revelation that, as a private lawyer, he defended a dangerous criminal from being extradited to Argentina, whose justice system was demanding his extradition.

According to political analyst Paulo Vilca, the prime minister’s response to the demands for change was predictable.

He added that the problem is his lack of capacity to bring in suitable people, given his massive disapproval in the polls and his consequent precariousness.

On the other hand, Raúl Molina, former vice-minister of governability, a post dedicated to dealing with social conflicts, pointed out that the ministers generally lack efficiency and political lucidity because their task is to defend the presidency tooth and nail in the face of the constant problems it faces.

In addition to being investigated for deaths in the protests against her ascension to power in December 2022, the president is being investigated for possible illicit enrichment due to the use of expensive jewelry that she had not declared possession of.

In the second case, in recent days Prime Minister Adrianzén has been embroiled in a dispute with the Comptroller General’s Office, denying the veracity of the latter’s report, according to which the head of state did not declare all the bank accounts she owns, among other omissions. On the other hand, a bloc of trade union, regional, neighborhood and political organizations of the left and center are preparing to hold protests throughout the country from next Friday, demanding the dismissal of the government and Congress and early elections, among other demands.
