Peru’s Dina Boluarte Disapproval Rises To 94%

The disapproval of the president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, rose to 94% and skepticism about the appointment of the new minister of the interior, Julio Díaz, in a key sector to combat public insecurity also grew to 79%.

According to a survey by the private pollster Datum, published by the newspaper El Comercio, the disapproval of Boluarte reaches 97% among the population aged 35 to 44 years old, and in Lima and Callao, declared in emergency for criminal violence, it rises to 95%.
Regarding the appointment of Díaz in the Interior portfolio, 46% said that the fight against crime will remain the same, 33% say it will get worse, 11% said they do not know and 10% think it will improve. The most pessimistic were people in the centre of the country (39%), women (36%) and citizens aged 45 to 54 (38%).
Following cases of extortion and murder of public transport drivers, Lima y Callao suffered a massive halt to urban transport last Thursday in protest against the insecurity affecting this and other economic bodies.
The chairman of the Council of Ministers, Gustavo Adrianzén, has a disapproval of 82% and a support of 5%, while the head of the parliament, Eduardo Salhuana, has a rejection of 83% and an approval of 4%, according to the Datum study.
According to another survey by the same firm at the end of last year, 33% of those criticising its work express disappointment in the way it manages the country, while 20% are outraged at its apparent indifference to people’s real problems.
In addition, 18% consider their presence in power a mockery, and 17% think that every decision they make makes the situation worse. Finally, 9% feel a deep anger every time they see or hear it, leaving only 3% who do not know what to say about their management.
