During a demonstration in support of retirees outside the Buenos Aires Parliament, photographer Pablo Grillo was seriously injured after allegedly being hit by a tear gas canister.

Grillo was documenting the clashes that erupted during the protest in support of retirees when he was struck in the head, prompting his urgent transfer to Argerich Hospital, where he is in critical condition and underwent surgery.

The moment of the attack was captured in a video showing Grillo attempting to photograph the advance of security forces, who were using tear gas, batons, and water cannons to disperse the crowd. The footage shows the young man suddenly collapsing to the ground after being hit.
