Parker confirmed at a press conference the death of the six passengers and added that the seventh fatality was in a nearby vehicle at the location where the plane crashed, causing an explosion among homes in a residential area in the northeast of the city.

“We can confirm that at least one other person died in this tragedy; they were in a vehicle. There are also other injured victims being treated in local hospitals, totaling 19 injured. This is not definitive and the investigation is ongoing,” the mayor stated.

The Mexican government confirmed last night that the six passengers who died in the plane crash were of Mexican nationality: four crew members and a minor, who was presumably traveling with a relative.

The aircraft, a Learjet 55 model, crashed on Friday around 6:30 PM local time (11:30 PM GMT) after taking off from the airport in northeast Philadelphia bound for Springfield (Missouri), according to a spokesperson from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The aircraft reached 1,650 feet (about 500 meters) shortly after takeoff before plummeting, according to data from ADS-B Exchange.

The incident occurred after a military helicopter collided with a commercial airplane near Washington’s Reagan National Airport on Wednesday, causing the death of the 67 people on board both aircraft.
