Police Seize Nearly 729 Kilos of Cocaine off the Coast of Ecuador

Ecuadorian police seized 728.9 kilos of cocaine in the coastal province of Manabí on Saturday, according to a statement issued on Sunday.

The entity noted that, through the Criminal Investigation Force (FIAC), he carried out an operation in the municipality of Manta, where they discovered a boat abandoned on a vacant lot.
When they inspected the boat, they found a sophisticated cove where 631 packages were hidden, containing cocaine.
The police estimated that in Ecuador, the seized drug would have a value of about 1.4 million dollars, and when it arrived in the USA, it would reach 14.5 million dollars, while if the destination was Europe, it would be worth 29.1 million dollars.
Borders with Colombia and Peru, the two largest producers of cocaine in the world, with several ports on its coasts, such as Guayaquil, and a dollar-rich economy, Ecuador has become in recent years an important step for the trafficking of this drug, which is mainly directed to Europe and North America.
Ecuador is listed as the third country in the world to seize more drugs, only behind Colombia and the United States, with some 200 tons of narcotics seized, according to records of the last three years, while in the current year it accumulates 149 tons accumulated only in the first half.
