Francis also asked God to “sustain with His grace all those committed to the search for the missing and to the arduous process of rebuilding the devastated areas.” In an act of faith, he invoked Our Lady of Mercy to intercede for all those affected.

As the region works to recover, the Southern Energy Distribution Company (EDES) has managed to restore electricity to 55% of the area, while in towns like Cerri, residents still face power outages. The response to this crisis continues, with a team of 400 workers deployed to accelerate the reconnection of electricity.

The Pope’s message not only resonates as an act of compassion from the Gemelli Hospital where he is currently admitted but also serves as a reminder of the power of solidarity and hope in times of adversity.
