Update on Pope Francis’s Health: Slight Improvements in a Complex Context

On March 17, the Holy See Press Office released a report on Pope Francis’ health, indicating slight improvements in his respiratory treatment after 32 days of hospitalization at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital.

According to the latest updates, the Holy Father has reduced his reliance on high-flow nasal oxygen therapy and, at times, can completely forgo supplemental oxygen.

The Pope’s condition is described as “stationary,” with positive progress attributed to respiratory and motor physiotherapy. Doctors have confirmed that the Argentine pontiff is in a “stable” condition, signaling that his recovery is advancing.

This Sunday, the Holy See shared the first image of Pope Francis from the hospital, showing him concelebrating Mass in the chapel of the papal private apartment located on the 10th floor of Gemelli Hospital. During his time in the hospital, the Holy Father has dedicated his days to prayer, rest, and some work-related activities.

The Catholic community and faithful around the world continue to pray for Pope Francis’ swift recovery as he remains committed to his pastoral duties despite his health challenges.
