President Maduro also reported the arrest of more than 150 mercenaries from over 25 nationalities, who are confessing to terrorist plans intended to be carried out in the country during 2024.

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said during his Annual Message to the Nation, that the country is in a state of tranquility and peace, highlighting that the opposition’s “crazy ideas and plans” have not succeeded.
During the speech, President Maduro declared: “We have defeated hatred, intolerance; we have defeated the coup, we have defeated fascism, and that victory belongs to all of Venezuela.”
The President emphasized that January 10 marked the “definitive consolidation of the popular-military-police merger,” stressing that the country has overcome various threats, as well as intense psychological warfare and disinformation.

In his speech, the President also referred to international developments, welcoming a recent ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas, and the Israeli government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu. “From Venezuela, we welcome the ceasefire agreement and hope that all humanity will unite to see it fulfilled and usher in times of peace,” he said.
President Maduro also reported the arrest of more than 150 mercenaries from over 25 nationalities, who are confessing to terrorist plans intended to be carried out in the country during 2024. He recalled the destabilizing attempts in July 2024, describing them as the first “cyberfascist” coup d’état in the world.
It is important to note that while Venezuelans were preparing for peaceful elections, the extreme right sought to unleash violence with the support of figures such as Álvaro Uribe and Iván Duque.
Finally, President Maduro reaffirmed his commitment to peace and stability in Venezuela, assuring that “no sector will lead Venezuela into a scene of violence—neither by the good nor by the bad.”
