“What is a perfect victory? An overwhelming, sweeping, and peaceful victory like the one that took place in Mexico. That is the perfect victory we must seek,” he said during a political rally in the state of Trujillo.

The Bolivarian leader also denounced the existence of a media plan through which the Venezuelan far-righ seeks to discredit the presidential election results.

“Now they want to come and campaign to deceive the gullible again,” Maduro said, asking the people if they want a “weak and manipulable president, a puppet of the Americans who will give away Venezuela’s wealth, or a firm, brave, and patriotic president.”

On Tuesday, the Venezuelan president was greeted by a crowd of people in the state of Trujillo, in a new show of support for his candidacy in the presidential elections on July 28.

“We went out to embrace and meet with our beloved people,” Maduro said, highlighting that the expressions of enthusiasm and joy observed in the state of Trujillo demonstrate the unity between the Venezuelan government and the people.

After Claudia Sheinbaum’s victory in the Mexican presidential elections, President Maduro spoke with her by phone to reaffirm Venezuela’s commitment to fight against the lies of the international far-right and to maintain relations of cooperation and brotherhood.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil informed that the conversation between Maduro and Sheinbaum took place in an atmosphere of cordiality in which the struggles of the Mexican people for their freedom were recalled. They also reaffirmed that efforts to maintain a united continent will continue.

Sheinbaum’s victory is “holy water that falls on Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Maduro, who expressed admiration for the resilience of the outgoing president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
