The Justices of the Peace will play a key role in mediating and resolving conflicts within their communities.

Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro has expressed his confidence that the election of more than 30,000 Justices of the Peace, scheduled for December 15, 2024, will be a crucial step toward achieving the peace and tranquility that the population longs for.

 In this context, President Maduro stressed that this election is part of the democratic process of the country and represents a step toward a new, direct, and popular democracy of the 21st century.

The election day, which began at 8:00 AM and ended at 8:00 PM, is being held in 4,818 polling stations nationwide.

The president of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, Tania D’Amelio, announced that a training plan for new Justices of the Peace has been prepared and will begin in January 2025. D’Amelio emphasized that this electoral process has been democratically consulted with the communities and that there is massive participation today.

President Maduro also paid tribute to the legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez Frías, who was a precursor to the Popular Constituent Process in Venezuela.

The Justices of the Peace will play a key role in mediating and resolving conflicts within their communities.

According to the Minister for Communes and Social Development, Ángel Prado, these figures will be responsible for ensuring community security and promoting dialogue among citizens. The election is seen as a powerful mechanism to promote peace and social welfare in the country.

The election of Justices of the Peace is not only a significant electoral event but also an attempt by the Venezuelan government to strengthen its democratic model and respond to local needs. With this process, Venezuela celebrates 25 years since the adoption of its Constitution, reaffirming its commitment to citizen participation and the collective construction of a more just and peaceful society.
