President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, spoke on Wednesday, November 20, warning those who plan to carry out a coup in the country, especially in the context of his swearing-in scheduled for next January 10.

During the installation of the National Electoral Commission in Caracas, the president emphasized that they should not underestimate the union between communities, armed forces, and police under his government.

“Those who seek to repeat an episode like the Carmonazo, who feel intoxicated by power thanks to the support of the American elite, must remember: do not disparage the Venezuelan people or our solid communal, military, and police alliance,” said President Maduro.

He warned that those who try to challenge what he considers the most sacred aspects of Venezuela—its Constitution, its peace, and its people—will regret their actions. The president also stressed that the era of elites manipulating political power is behind us.

“Today we have public institutions independent of the oligarchy and free from American influence,” he said.

President Maduro criticized those who, he said, seek to return to a colonial era by becoming vassals of the powerful and calling for external aggression against their country. “This contradiction is not new; it has been present for more than 200 years,” concluded the head of state.
