The head of state, in his latest edition of the program Con Maduro+, with transmission on digital platform and national television last February 10, announced that this February 15 will deliver “before the National Assembly for the draft of the Constitution to be debated throughout the country.”
President Maduro cleared out that the fundamental objectives of this reform is “to extend and perfect Venezuelan democracy, to build a new society and modernity, and to establish a clear economic model for future generations.”
The president highlighted that this Constitutional reform seeks a Venezuela capable of being self-sustainable, with a diversified and independent economy, to be invulnerable to external and internal attacks, such as the unilateral sanctions of the United States.
“This year we have a challenge for the great constitutional reform that we will discuss and reach consensus on with the Venezuelan people in the territories, in the assemblies, at the grassroots level,” he stated.
The Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in its article 340, states that “the amendment is for the purpose of adding or amending one or more articles.”
The reform initiative shall be considered by the National Assembly, which will have a first discussion at the session corresponding to its presentation, in accordance with Venezuelan constitutional legislation.
