President Maduro Emphasizes the Significance of Indigenous Resistance in the History of Venezuela

In his speech, the president stressed that the Bolivarian Revolution, from the beginning, enhanced the value of the indigenous peoples.
The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, participated on Friday in the campaign event in the town of Paraguaipoa, in the state of Zulia, where he highlighted the importance of indigenous resistance.

In his speech, the president stressed that the Bolivarian Revolution, from the beginning, enhanced the value of the indigenous peoples, providing them with legal mechanisms for their defense, an issue that had not been addressed by previous governments.
“Who expropriated the wealth of the native peoples? Empires. Who plundered the wealth of our grandparents? Surnames. In this great peninsula called La Guajira, they could not with you. You prevailed in the lands, with your language, culture and identity, and I can say that the indigenous resistance in this vast area, transcended,” said the president.
He also stated that he had attended to be filled “with the strength, energy and millennial spirituality of the Wayu and Añú peoples”, to whom he asked for their support, their love and their blessings.
The head of State also recalled that through his veins runs the ancestral strength of his grandparents and grandmothers of native peoples, while he specified that it has new challenges for the future.
In this regard, he reaffirmed that at this moment he has the triple task of governing, pilgrimages and caring for peace. In that sense, he announced that the El Brillante Pumping System, located in the municipality of Guajira, would be activated to benefit 52,000 people.
“Today he opened the key to benefit 52,000 people, and water will reach his home. A work of the 1X10 of good government. In the Pumping System we brought the spare parts, engines, we put the pipe and today, July 19, goes into operation and in a few months will enter the second stage to have resolved in two months, the issue of water,” he said.
Likewise, he announced that in the city of Sinamaica he would start laying pipes to optimize water supply, as part of the 1X10 of Good Government.
On the other hand, he indicated that within two months the work of the Binational Hospital of Paraguaipoa will be delivered. “That hospital is going to be a package, new for the people of this immense region,” he said.
The president also instructed the Minister of Oil, Pedro Tellechea and the president of Corpozulia, NĂ©stor Reverol, to make concrete the recovery of the road that leads from Maracaibo to Paraguaipoa.
“We are recovering the road from Maracaibo; but we must recover from the area of El Cruce, because there are good and bad parts. I have given the order to put new package the road to Maicao. And if the Government of Colombia allows it, to Cartagena,” he said.
The candidate of the Great Patriotic Pole Simon Bolivar also specified that he will continue with the people, “building prosperity and the future for all; listening to the people and changing everything that has to be changed”.
“On July 28 we are going for more peace, for more work, for more changes and for more transformations from the people, for the people and with the people,” he said.
