“”President Gustavo Petro, you can count on the experience and strength of the Venezuelan people. Colombia and Venezuela will always be together in peace and deep dialogue,” said Maduro in his Telegram channel.

The Venezuelan president added that inspired by the Liberator Simón Bolívar, they will know how to overcome difficulties. “Together, let us consolidate our independence and build the prosperity of our peoples in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

In addition the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, challenged his US counterpart, Donald Trump, this Sunday with a long letter in which he even states that he does not fear a coup d’état, in the midst of a bilateral crisis over tariffs and other measures announced by the White House.

“Put me down, president, and the Americas and humanity will answer to you,” said the Colombian leader in a letter published on the social network X addressed to Trump.

According to Petro, the US president “can with his economic strength and his pride try to make a coup as they did with (Salvador) Allende. But I die in my law, I withstood the torture and I resist you”.

The diplomatic crisis erupted on Sunday after Petro refused to allow two planes with Colombian citizens deported from the U.S. as long as these people are not treated “worthily”.
