President Maduro Highlights the “Gocho Factor” and Promotes Food Independence in Venezuela

In the 72nd edition of his program “Con Maduro+”, President Nicolás Maduro discussed the so-called “Gocho Factor,” which highlights family savings of up to 27% on vegetable purchases through agricultural fairs.
During the Digital Zone segment, President Maduro emphasized the policies implemented in the Andean states of Táchira, Mérida, and Trujillo, which have fostered significant production of organic seeds and high-quality crops, contributing to a healthier and more self-sustaining way of life.
The president also addressed attempts by extremist opposition groups to obstruct the distribution of food during the violent protests on July 29 and 30, 2024.

In another part of his address, the president mentioned the approval in the first discussion of the ALBA-TCP (Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Agreement) Agricultural Cooperation Law by the National Assembly.
President Maduro urged the president of the parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, to expedite the legislative process, arguing that this law is crucial for attracting investments from more than 15 ALBA member countries and strengthening food production in Venezuela.
Additionally, he announced the organization of an Agricultural Fair in Nicaragua in March, where the progress of these agreements among member countries will be showcased. “We are going for a win-win situation; we are not going to produce weapons or nuclear bombs, we are going to produce food.
This is an alliance for life, peace, and economic independence; this is the way forward,” concluded President Maduro, reaffirming his optimistic vision for the agri-food future of Latin America and the Caribbean.
