President Nicolas Maduro Presents Five Goals To Improve the Quality of Education in Venezuela
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, led the inauguration of the International School of Youth Leadership “Antonio José de Sucre” in Filas de Mariche, Miranda state. The event took place on February 12, a date celebrated in Venezuela as Youth Day, in tribute to the nation’s young people.
During his speech, President Maduro emphasized the significance of the day, calling it a celebration of “the warriors, an anti-imperialist, anti-slavery, and anti-oligarchic day.” He highlighted the importance of empowering youth to lead the nation’s future and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing young people with the tools necessary for political and social transformation.
The newly inaugurated school, named after Venezuelan independence hero Antonio José de Sucre, will also serve as the headquarters for the World Anti-Fascist Youth Movement. President Maduro proposed that the institution become a global center for anti-fascist education, a suggestion that was met with strong approval from attendees.
In addition, the President instructed the Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez, to assume the rectorship of the school and to assemble an “inclusive, united, powerful, national, and international team” to oversee its operations.
Minister Rodríguez detailed the Bolivarian government’s ongoing efforts to empower Venezuelan youth, stating, “We have been systematizing our work to reach various target groups, including the Ministry of Youth, the Socialist Youth, and the Venezuela Joven Association. Thousands of young people are eager to strengthen participatory and protagonistic democracy, and they are demanding the political tools necessary for the battles they must face, for self-governance, and for the concrete execution of community-approved projects.”
The school, which has a capacity of 900 participants, will initially host 500 Venezuelan youth and 400 international students. The basic course offered at the institution aims to provide political tools for the ongoing economic and social transformation in Venezuela. The curriculum will focus on reflection, political work, and cultural development, with the goal of fostering a new generation of leaders committed to social change.
Minister Rodríguez also outlined plans to strengthen learning methodologies at the school through the Ministry of Education, ensuring that the institution becomes a sustainable space for youth development.
The inauguration of the International School of Youth Leadership marks a significant step in Venezuela’s efforts to empower its youth and promote global solidarity among young leaders.
The school is expected to become a hub for political and cultural education, both nationally and internationally, as it prepares young people to take on the challenges of the 21st century.
