The president defended those who were sanctioned, describing them as “patriots” who have worked tirelessly for peace and stability in the country.

Maduro announced that on Sunday, December 1, Venezuelans will take to the streets to celebrate “the four months of the great consolidated victory of the electoral process,” in an event that promises to be a manifestation of joy and resistance.

“If fascism says ‘No’ to Christmas! The people of Venezuela say ‘Yes’ to Christmas! Yes to parranda; yes to the bongos; yes to the drum; yes to dance; yes to rumba; yes to peace; yes to life,” exclaimed the president, using the festive atmosphere as a symbol of unity and celebration.

The president also highlighted the advance of Christmas festivities in Venezuela as a “vaccine against conspiracy” and a means to counter what he calls an anti-vigil movement that seeks to destabilize the country.

With his message, President Maduro tries to project an image of strength and hope amid the economic and political adversity facing Venezuela.
