He reaffirmed his dedication to socialist ideals during his inauguration ceremony, which was attended by over 2,000 delegates from 120 countries. In his first speech as head of state for the term extending until 2031, Maduro recalled his first swearing-in ceremony following the death of the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution.

“We came devastated and with broken hearts after bidding farewell to the immortal, invincible, and beloved Commander Chavez, who remains ever-present in our lives. The sash I wore was his sash because I swore absolute loyalty to his legacy, his cause, his struggle, and his dreams,” he stated.

“Hugo Chavez achieved the historical feat of bringing the ideas, project, and original dreams of the men and women who expelled the Spanish Empire from all South American lands into the 21st century.”

“If something characterizes the 500-year history of the people of this land called Venezuela, it is the heroic and extraordinary resistance against all forms of domination, colonialism, and imperialism,” Maduro pointed out.

“I will always remain loyal to popular power, to the Indigenous peoples, to the working class, to the ordinary people,” he said, paying tribute to those who build the Bolivarian Revolution daily.

Maduro also delivered a message to those who have betrayed the homeland and attacked Venezuela from abroad, reminding them that the Bolivarian Constitution “guarantees a democratic, social state governed by the rule of law and justice, born in defiance of imperial conspiracies.”

“This Constitution was written and approved by the people for the first time in our republican history. It has been defended by the people. Today, we can say that this Constitution is victorious and Venezuela is at peace,” the reelected president asserted.

Maduro also highlighted the symbolic importance of the presidential sash, which was embroidered by men and women from the community.

“I felt great emotion upon receiving our presidential sash from the hands of humble women from Caracas’ neighborhoods. It is a special sash because it carries the blessings of the people. To the people, I say: I carry your sash with me.”
