The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced this Thursday the arrival of 176 nationals to the country, who were rescued from the Guantánamo naval base, a Cuban territory illegally occupied by the United States.

“We saved them from the hell of the colonial Guantánamo naval base, which the United States maintains illegally on Cuban territory,” stated the Head of State.

The Venezuelans, totaling 177, arrived at Simón Bolívar International Airport aboard Conviasa flights from Honduras, the country that temporarily hosted them after the Venezuelan government demanded the United States repatriate its citizens, who were being unjustly detained at the naval base.

During his address, President Maduro denounced the inhumane conditions to which the nationals were subjected in Guantánamo. “They couldn’t see the sun, enduring constant mistreatment, accused of being part of El Tren de Aragua, even though El Tren has already been defeated. Now they are trying to build a media campaign,” emphasized the president.

Furthermore, the Head of State assured that any nationals with pending legal matters will be processed in accordance with Venezuelan laws, guaranteeing their rights and due process. “Here, human dignity is respected, and justice is applied transparently,” he stated.

This rescue operation reinforces the Venezuelan government’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad and once again highlights the serious human rights violations committed at the Guantánamo naval base, a detention center that has been internationally condemned for its inhumane treatment and illegal existence.

With the arrival of these 177 Venezuelans, the Venezuelan state reaffirms its policy of inclusion and social justice, prioritizing the well-being of its people and defending its sovereignty against any foreign interference.
