President Maduro highlighted that on January 22, nationwide exercises named “Bolivarian Shield 2025” began, aimed at defending democracy, sovereignty, and peace. Over 290 territorial defense actions have been carried out across the country.

“These exercises prepare the military and the people of my homeland to stand ready against both external and internal threats,” he said. Emphasizing the importance of readiness, Maduro reiterated, “If you want peace, prepare to defend it, preserve it, build it, and conquer it.”

Maduro described the defense drills as a demonstration of Venezuela’s strength and power: “They have tried to threaten us, and I declare from this People’s Balcony—Chávez’s balcony—that as long as Maduro is here, Chávez is here with the people.”

The president reflected on his predecessor, Hugo Chávez, saying, “This people remembers and loves Chávez. I have inherited many things from him: threats, attacks, and aggressions. But the most beautiful legacy I have inherited from my father, Hugo Chávez, is the love and loyal support of the people. And I say with him: Love is repaid with love; the people’s love has always been and will always be met with more love.”

The mobilization, made up of men and women supporting President Maduro’s policies, also honored the 67th anniversary of the 1958 Popular Rebellion. This historic day marks the fall of Venezuela’s military dictatorship and highlights the enduring importance of civic-military unity in the nation’s struggle for democracy and sovereignty.

Maduro’s address underscored his commitment to defending Venezuela’s independence while maintaining peace and unity in the face of external pressures. The commemorative event served as a testament to the continued solidarity between the government and its people.
