At a press conference held on Monday, the National Leadership of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), led by its First Vice-President, Diosdado Cabello, made important statements about the country’s political future.

Cabello began the session by reiterating that the next elections are stipulated in the Constitution to be held in 2025, and that popular consultations will be an integral part of the democratic events scheduled for this year.

During the conference, Cabello detailed the dates and activities in which the PSUV will participate as part of its work agenda and political deployment. In particular, he stressed that the first National Popular Consultation of 2025 aims to consolidate People’s Power, a fundamental principle in the party’s ideology.

The First Vice-President also addressed the situation of Colombian citizens seeking refuge in Venezuela due to violence in various regions of Colombia. Cabello assured that the country will welcome these citizens with solidarity, emphasizing Venezuela’s humanitarian responsibility in the midst of the crisis.

In addition, the PSUV leader expressed his concerns about the influence of certain political sectors in Colombia, mentioning that some police agencies operate under the direction of figures such as Álvaro Uribe Vélez and Iván Duque, who, according to Cabello, maintain ties with Venezuelan ultra-right leaders.

Regarding international relations, Cabello stressed that any rapprochement with the United States or other countries will depend on the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro. “If the United States wants a relationship of respect, here is our hand,” he said.

The First Vice-President of the PSUV denounced that opposition figures like Juan Guaidó and María Corina Machado are being financed by Colombian drug paramilitaries.

Cabello called on the international community to contribute to stability and normality in Venezuela, rejecting fascist manipulations and reaffirming that “here is a people who are happy and all they ask for is respect.”

With these statements, the PSUV seeks to reaffirm its commitment to the Venezuelan people and its willingness to participate actively in the country’s democratic process.
