During the ALBA-TCP Summit, Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, emphasized the importance of collective actions to improve the lives of the people and enhance global production.
He expressed strong support for President Nicolás Maduro’s proposal to establish an ALBA-TCP air and maritime fleet and urged the acceleration of AgroALBA initiatives.
“We must have a clear vision and work together to strengthen actions we should have already taken,” Gonsalves stated.
He highlighted the necessity of building connections with countries that have citizens willing to collaborate and with trustworthy partners, including some monopolistic capitalists without nationalist traits.
Gonsalves stressed the need for practical coordination among regional institutions to achieve attainable goals within the framework of their societies. He underlined the importance of solidarity, efficient cooperation in specific actions, and defending fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter: independence, sovereignty, and multilateralism.
“We must advocate for peace instead of war,” he added.
On the topic of migration, Gonsalves outlined four key points proposed by his government. He insisted that countries have the obligation to receive repatriated or deported nationals, ensuring compliance with legal processes and international law.
Deporting nations must guarantee the fundamental rights of Vincentian nationals, avoiding oppressive measures and adhering to international humanitarian law.
He also called for the provision of comprehensive information, including criminal backgrounds, for those being deported.
