The holy month of Ramadan, a time of fasting, prayer, and reflection, is being observed by millions of Muslims across Nigeria. Beyond personal devotion, Ramadan serves as a period for strengthening family ties through shared experiences.

For many Nigerian Muslims, Ramadan is not only a spiritual journey but also a festive occasion marked by communal meals and gatherings. Ammar Sulaiman, a Muslim observing the holy month, highlights the significance of family unity during this period, emphasizing that it aligns with the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, who encouraged togetherness as a way to nurture relationships and bring loved ones closer.

Imam Mujahid Abdurraman of Annur’s mosque in Abuja underscores the importance of breaking fast with family and community, reinforcing the idea that Ramadan is also about acts of compassion. “Fasting is a fundamental pillar of Islam, designed to cultivate a deeper awareness of Allah. But it also calls for kindness—feeding the needy and supporting one another strengthens our sense of brotherhood,” he stated.

As the call to Maghrib prayer signals the end of the daily fast, families across Nigeria gather to share iftar, strengthening their bonds and reinforcing the communal spirit that defines this sacred month.
