In a context of rising tension and violence, at least 18 people were injured in attacks by the Israeli army in several locations in southern Lebanon on Tuesday. This incident occurred in the midst of a ceasefire that was in its second day, highlighting the fragility of the situation in the region.

According to reports from the Emergency Health Operations Centre of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, 14 people were injured in an Israeli attack in the Nabatiye province during the afternoon.

Although the statement does not specify the severity of the injuries, the number of wounded underscores the chilling reality of the conflict.

This new outbreak of violence comes after the expiration of the initial ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Shiite Hezbollah entity, which was extended until February 18.

This pact stipulated the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon and the redeployment of Hezbollah north of the Litani River, some 30 kilometers from the border.

However, the Israeli government has stated that it will not be able to complete the withdrawal on time, citing that the Lebanese army has not yet taken control of the areas that must be vacated.

The situation is alarming, as following the expiration of the first ceasefire agreement, fatal incidents were recorded in which the Israeli army killed 24 people and wounded 134 more last Sunday, and continued its offensive on Monday, causing more deaths and injuries.

With a history marked by conflicts and territorial disputes, the civilian population is caught in the middle of a struggle that seems to have no end. This cycle of violence highlights the persistent tensions between the two sides and raises serious concerns about future stability in the region.
