Some right-wing sectors promote violence through the creation of urban agitation groups known as “Guarimbas.”
On Friday, legislator Jorge Rodriguez, the coordinator of the “Our Venezuela” Campaign Command, reiterated that far-right groups are conducting political destabilization maneuvers.

From the Argentine embassy in Caracas, these groups aim to introduce uncertainty into the presidential election process by creating narratives about a alleged fraud, he stated, adding that the Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Ministry is taking action on the matter.
Rodriguez reiterated that some right-wing sectors are not campaigning electorally but promoting violence through the creation of urban agitation groups popularly known as “Guarimbas.” This, however, will not be tolerated by the Venezuelan authorities.
More specifically, the far-right plans to generate violence through acts of vandalism on election day. Involved in this are Magalli Meda and Humberto Villalobos. These members of the organization Vente Venezuela are close to Maria Corina Machado, who is campaigning for candidate Edmundo Gonzalez.
“We will surgically dismantle every violent plan. We will not allow destabilizing actions before, during, or after July 28,” said Rodriguez.
The U.S.-backed opposition is preemptively crying “fraud,” he pointed out, explaining that these narratives are precisely part of the plan to create chaos and anxiety. In response to this strategy, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has asked citizens to turn out en masse for the elections and to defend their votes in the streets.
“Venezuelan patriots will take advantage of the July elections to resolve their differences in an atmosphere of peace and respect for the laws in force,” said Rodriguez, who invited citizens to participate in the electoral simulation that will take place on June 30.
