Public and private business sectors from Venezuela and Russia meet in Caracas to celebrate the XVIII Meeting of the High Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN) between the two countries.

Within the framework of the XVIII Meeting of the High Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN) between Russia and Venezuela, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil welcomed this Thursday the Vice President of the Government of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Chernyshenko.

This meeting, supported by President Nicolás Maduro, represents a key opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas, in a context of growing strategic collaboration between both nations.

During the event, the importance of the alliance in the search for joint and sovereign development was highlighted, especially in the face of international sanctions and pressures.

On Wednesday, the Executive Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, also participated in the binational Business Council. On that occasion, the Venezuelan official highlighted the economic achievements of both countries despite international blockades and sanctions.

She also stressed that the strategic partnership with Russia has allowed both countries to build an independent and self-sufficient path, facing economic challenges through growth and cooperation.

“Neither blackmail nor Unilateral Coercive Measures will derail the separate path that Russia and Venezuela have consolidated to develop together, with sovereignty and self-determination,” said the vice president. This bilateral success, she said, reflects the strength and commitment of both countries in their struggle for self-determination and in defense of their economic and political independence.

For his part, the Russian ambassador to Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, emphasized the anti-fascist alliance between both countries during his speech at the International Anti-fascist Parliamentary Forum in Caracas.

Mélik-Bagdasarov highlighted Russia’s historic role in the fight against fascism and the importance of this forum as a tool to counter global neocolonialism. He also referred to Russia’s support for Venezuela in its attempt to join the BRICS, clarifying that the refusal to join was not a veto, but a temporary lack of consensus.

“Administrative and bureaucratic issues cease to be important when there is the idea, the union and friendship between our countries,” said the diplomat, reinforcing the vision of a global bloc that defends the sovereignty of the countries of the global south against external pressures.
