He emphasized the “unacceptable” nature of any actions aimed at undermining the constitutional foundations of sovereign countries and expressed Russia’s “full and unwavering support” for President Luis Arce.

“Lavrov confirmed our solidarity with sister Bolivia, our reliable strategic partner,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said after condemning the attempted coup led by General Juan Zuñiga on Wednesday.

The Kremlin described the events in Bolivia as an “internal matter” of that country and expressed confidence that the “Bolivian friends” would be able to resolve the situation within the legal framework and without foreign interference.

“It is very important that there are no third-country interferences in what is happening in that nation,” said Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who added that Russia trusts Bolivia will soon restore calm.

In recent years, La Paz and Moscow have strengthened their international cooperation and diplomatic ties. For example, in early June, Arce visited Russia to attend the St. Petersburg Economic Forum and meet with President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, in April, the Bolivian Foreign Minister also visited Moscow, where she advocated for turning the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) into an alternative to the “aggressive” North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
