“We celebrate Russia Day as if it were our national day because we know the great contributions that Russia has given and will give to humanity,” she said, recalling that Venezuela and Russia have signed 340 cooperation agreements in fields related to science, finance, economy, energy, and security.

The Bolivarian official pointed out that Russia is also the victim of a criminal blockade against its economy, which is being affected by over 21,000 arbitrary sanctions established by the United States and its allies.

Nevertheless, “Russia is determined to defend its sovereignty and independence. Thanks to this will, its economy is larger and performs better than European economies,” Rodriguez stressed.

The Venezuelan vice president stressed that free nations must establish common routes like the one opened by the BRICS. This economic cooperation scheme will allow international trade and finance to be de-dollarized, a historic task that involves breaking with the “hegemonic centers that have decided to wipe out humanity.”

Rodriguez emphasized that Venezuela, Russia, and other countries are moving towards the formation of a new international order with multiple non-hegemonic poles, as conceived by the late Commander Hugo Chavez.

For his part, Ambassador Mélik-Bagdasárov reiterated his country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral alliances with the homeland of liberator Simon Bolívar.

“Russia and Venezuela are at the forefront of efforts to reinforce multipolar and truly democratic principles of international relations. We are united by ties of strategic cooperation based on the closeness of positions related to the global agenda’s key problems,” he said.
