‘Our fighters are reclaiming square kilometers of territory,’ he said.
On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he does not know how much longer the Russian military campaign in Ukraine will last, though he emphasized that Moscow is getting increasingly closer to achieving its objectives on the battlefield.

During his annual press conference, Putin said the situation on the front lines is changing “radically,” with Russian troops capturing “square kilometers” daily. However, he refrained from predicting the duration of the war, which began in February 2022.
“The fighting is complicated, so making predictions about the future is difficult and pointless,” said the Kremlin leader. He used the first few minutes of his address to show the audience a banner gifted to him by one of the airborne brigades fighting in Ukraine.
The Russian leader insisted that “there is movement” along the entire front line every day, referring to the capture of dozens of localities in recent months in the Donbas region.
“And we’re not talking about advances of 100, 200, or 300 meters. Our fighters are reclaiming square kilometers of territory,” he said.
When asked about the Ukrainian troops occupying part of Russia’s Kursk region since last August, Putin promised that the enemy would “undoubtedly” be expelled.
“There is no doubt about it. I cannot and will not give a specific date for when they will be neutralized. The guys are fighting; battles are ongoing right now,” he stated.
According to Western media, the Kremlin aims to secure the liberation of Kursk from enemy forces before the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.
