“We remain committed to the agreement we signed. We remain committed to our interests in developing relations with our neighbor in all areas, and this should not frighten or worry anyone,” he said.
Peskov responded this way to a question regarding the possible transfer of missile technology to Pyongyang, which launched a new intercontinental ballistic missile on Thursday.
The development of ties between Moscow and Pyongyang is the sovereign right of both countries, said the Kremlin representative, who avoided commenting on the North Korean launch. “I do not have that information. You will probably have to ask the Defense Minister,” Peskov added.
On Wednesday, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un stated that the new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch demonstrates Pyongyang’s “determination to counterattack.”
This launch took place just hours after a meeting in Washington between U.S. and South Korean defense ministers, Lloyd Austin and Kim Yong-hyun.
In that meeting, both ministers condemned the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia, which, according to Austin, have already approached the Ukrainian front line, equipped with Russian uniforms and equipment. So far, Russia has not confirmed the presence of North Korean forces on its territory.
