She also emphasized that the situation in Venezuela remains stable in objective terms given that the post-electoral process is advancing within the legal framework, with the Bolivarian authorities ensuring constitutional and public order.
The Russian diplomat warned of increased coordinated foreign pressure to delegitimize the election results and stressed that Western dissatisfaction with the electoral outcomes in Venezuela is nothing new.
Zakharova compared the current situation to other similar external interventions in the past, such as the “color revolutions” in the post-Soviet space and the failed efforts to install a “parallel government” in Venezuela with former Senator Juan Guaido.
She criticized the “Santo Domingo Declaration” and the resolution of the Organization of American States (OAS) promoted by the United States, the latter of which is used to divide the Venezuelan nation and encourage disobedience within the armed forces of this South American country.
Zakharova accused the United States of inciting destabilization and creating controlled chaos in Venezuela. She insisted that external forces attempting to impose their will on a sovereign state like Venezuela must understand the serious consequences of their actions.
She also highlighted that the Inter-American Democratic Charter does not include provisions that allow for the “independent verification” of a country’s election results at the whim of external actors.
Zakharova reiterated that Russia reaffirms its strong support for Venezuela and praised the will of the Venezuelan people to defend their sovereignty, as well as the willingness of the authorities to continue dialogue with political forces interested in resolving disagreements within the legal framework.
