Ukraine is expected to receive over 70 F-16s from the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, and Norway.

On Wednesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Andrei Rudenko stated that his country will take measures to ensure its security in response to the decisions being made by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) at its summit in Washington.

“The response measures will be developed by the political-military authorities… Everything will be done to ensure our security,” he said, noting that the NATO Summit’s decisions will not contribute to “anything good” as they are aimed at escalating the Ukrainian conflict.

The Russian diplomat, who was part of the negotiating team in talks with Kiev in March 2022, pointed out that new contacts with Ukraine will be possible when that country “is ready and adopts a realistic stance.”

Meanwhile, during the NATO Summit in Washington, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine is underway.

Donated by Denmark and the Netherlands, those U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets “will fly in the skies of Ukraine this summer,” the U.S. high-level official said.

Previously, Russia warned that the arrival of the F-16 fighter jets in Ukraine would be seen as a provocation by the U.S. and NATO, regardless of whether they are equipped to carry nuclear weapons or not. “President Vladimir Putin said F-16 fighter jets are legitimate targets for Moscow, even on third-country airfields,” BRICS News recalled.

“Apart from Norway, Ukraine is expected to receive over 70 F-16s from the Netherlands, Denmark, and Belgium. The first Danish jets are expected to arrive already this summer, and the deliveries are expected to continue in the following years,” ILKHA news agency reported.
