Russian Forces Liberate Rivnopil as They Advance Towards Zaporizhia Border

The Russian army has advanced rapidly in Donetsk, where it is already fighting in Kurakhove, an Ukrainian stronghold.
On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that its troops had liberated the town of Rivnopil in the Donetsk region as they advanced toward the border with Zaporizhzhia.

Rivnopil, which is located more than 60 kilometers southwest of the regional capital. It was liberated by units of the Vostok (East) military grouping, which inflicted approximately 150 casualties on Ukraine and destroyed a French-made Caesar self-propelled gun.
The village is situated just a few kilometers from the border with Zaporizhzhia, where Russian assault units have advanced in recent weeks, aiming to launch a new offensive against enemy strongholds.
According to Ukrainian sources cited by the Institute for the Study of War, the Russians have increased their air attacks by up to 40 percent against areas controlled by Kyiv.
For several weeks, the Russian army has been advancing rapidly in Donetsk, where it is already fighting in Kurakhove, an important Ukrainian stronghold. However, Russia’s primary objective is to capture Pokrovsk, a city of 60,000 residents with significant coke deposits.
According to British military sources, Moscow has managed to reclaim around 1,500 square kilometers in the Donbas over the past two months.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin has concentrated around 50,000 men in the Kursk region with the goal of driving out Ukrainian troops before the inauguration of the new U.S. president, Donald Trump, on January 20.
