Russian Prime Minister Met Iranian President to Discuss Important Bilateral Issues

Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian met on Monday with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who is in Iran’s capital Tehran on an official visit.

Despite an increase in trade relations of 6.5 percent, Pezeshkian said “I believe there is enormous potential for expanding cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, industry, trade relations and, of course, cultural and humanitarian relations between Russia and Iran».
For his part, Mishustin conveyed to the Iranian leader the warmest wishes of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
He also announced that all the issues of interest were discussed during the meeting, and reported that the possibilities of using Iran as a transport hub were also discussed.
The Russian prime minister also showed his interest, because during his visit to Moscow, Pezeshkian “participates in the meeting of the BRICS and sign a comprehensive agreement for strategic cooperation» between the countries.

At the BRICS meeting in Kazan, member countries will seek, as is now customary, to expand multilateral cooperation and will also make important decisions on dedollarisation and imposition of local currencies.
The BRICS countries are currently: Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iran, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Russia and the United Arab Emirates.
One of the main objectives of the BRICS is to take the US dollar out of the global reserve and replace it with regional currencies.
