On Thursday, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense reported that a new batch of Russian Tor-M2 anti-aircraft systems had arrived in the country as part of military cooperation with Russia.

“The arrival of the new batch of anti-aircraft missile systems is a clear example of the fruitful technical-military cooperation between Belarus and Russia,” the Russian military authorities stated.
The Tor-M2 systems are noted for their high mobility and short reaction time. They can simultaneously target 16 objects at a distance of up to 13 kilometers and an altitude of 10 kilometers, both during the day and night and under all weather conditions,
Belarusian authorities also mentioned that the Tor-M2 systems delivered were modified by Russian specialists, taking into account their use in the war in Ukraine.
Since 2023, Belarus, which is an ally of Russia in the special military operation in Ukraine, has also hosted Russian nuclear weapons. Last summer, the armed forces of Russia and Belarus conducted joint training “for the combat use of non-strategic nuclear weapons” with the goal of unconditionally ensuring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Russia and Belarus.
Previously, on Thursday morning, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that its air defense systems shot down two Storm Shadow cruise missiles of British manufacture. Over the last 24 hours, Russian forces also managed to shoot down six U.S.-made HIMARS missiles and 67 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Ukrainian attack comes after U.S. President Joe Biden authorized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to use long-range missiles such as Storm Shadow or ATACMS against Russian territory. “A new escalation is taking place. The outgoing administration is taking a very irresponsible position,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, referring to the Biden administration.
