The Russian representative stated that this situation undermines the credibility of the United Nations Security Council.
The first Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations (UN), Dmitri Polianski, stressed on Thursday that his country has proposed to the Security Council a new resolution to reach a truce in the Gaza Strip as the protocol is breached.

“If resolution 2735 is not respected, let us adopt a new document that sends a clear message to the saboteurs that their actions will not be without consequences, and let us provide our resolution with tools that help stop the violence, Regardless of the whims of one or another party to the conflict”, said the Russian diplomat.
When reporting that the UN Security Council adopted resolution 2735 based on the plan of US President Joe Biden, Dmitri Polianski stressed that “it is precisely the maniacal desire of the United States to ‘monopolize’ the peace process in the Middle East and to reshape it according to ‘models’ suitable for Israel that has led to the dramatic consequences we are witnessing today”.
The Russian representative also stated that this situation undermines the credibility of the United Nations Security Council, while pointing out that this body has not been efficient in finding a just solution to the Palestinian question.
“Since last October, it has been unable to take any effective decision necessary not only for a just solution of the Palestinian question in accordance with our relevant resolutions but also to prevent a regional war in the Middle East.”, remarked Dmitri Polianski.
“How long are we going to stand idly by while the American would-be mediators continue to show off and feed us with empty promises that their diplomatic efforts «on the ground» will bring quick results?” , Polianski reflected.
