Within the framework of the XIII Extraordinary Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), held this Tuesday in Caracas, Venezuela, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J. Pierre, reiterated his country’s commitment to regional unity and the defense of the rights of peoples in the face of global adversities.
“We must remain united for the defense of our peoples. Saint Lucia will always be part of this effort to improve the quality of life of our peoples,” declared Pierre during his address at the summit.
The Caribbean leader emphasized the importance of maintaining solidarity among member nations in the face of external pressures, particularly the economic sanctions and blockades imposed by foreign powers, especially on Cuba and Venezuela, for which he reaffirmed his support.
Pierre also stressed the need to strengthen initiatives such as Agroalba, a program that promotes food security and agricultural development in the region.
